When the Carnival Elation left Port Canaveral on Saturday, it was slated to sail to Amber Cove and Grand Trunk in its five-night long journey. However, the itinerary was changed a day after. The passengers were made acquainted by the captain that this happened due to technical issues. Later the captain wrote a letter to the passengers for informing them about the issue.

“The technical problem is affecting our maximum cruising speed. Our team is working tirelessly to fix the problem but it is apparent now that we won’t be able to visit the Amber Grove and Grand Trunk, as planned earlier. However, we have secured an overnight stay in Nassau. We will be arriving on Monday at 8 am and will depart on Tuesday at 8 am. The cruise is expected to return to Port Canaveral on Thursday,” said the captain’s letter.

Guests on the sailing are supposed to receive a $100 onboard credit along with a 50 per cent future cruise credit.

Carnival Elation happens to be a Fantasy-class vessel which joined the fleet in 1988. The cruise line has not made it clear whether its next cruise will be impacted due to this crisis.

Worth mentioning here that Carnival Pride also altered its itinerary a few days back. The guests were offered a 25 per cent of future cruise credit. The Carnival Sunrise’s September 16 departure also got affected. The cruise line is right now monitoring the development of Humberto along with any other storm threats in the Caribbean and beyond at its fleet operation centres in Miami.

Carnival Fantasy got damaged

The ship got damaged on Friday while it was sailing through the Panama Canal locks. The cruise line has released a statement as per which the ship came into contact with one of the locks while the water levels were being lowered. However, no injuries have been reported. Only a few portions of the Lido Restaurant and Adults only Serenity area (located on deck 9 and deck 10) got damaged. The glass and handrails were broken. The damage of this part is not going to affect the sailing though. Carnival Fantasy is sailing a 10-day Pana Canal Cruise. It is supposed to be back at its homeport on September 26.
