On February 23rd and 24th, Telangana Tourism will host a two-day ‘Global Celebration on Buddhist Heritage in Telangana’. A. Chandulal, Minister for Tourism said while addressing the press at the Tourism Plaza here on Tuesday, 37 dignitaries from 16 nations like Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Vietnam, USA, Bulgaria and about 144 delegates from various Buddhist organizations will take part in this two-day event. It celebration will be inaugurated by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Discussions on Buddhist history and experiences visiting of different countries will be talked about on the second day. Participants can also watch the screening of the documentary film on Buddhism in Telangana. Besides, art works, Buddhist theme photo exhibition, handicrafts exhibition-cum sale counters, book stalls on Buddhist literature would also be showcased at the event. 27 places in Telangana were already identified as Buddhist sites, of which 13 places got internationally recognition as mentioned by the minister.
To quote the Minister, ‘’ the government is of the view that by conducting such conferences, the Buddhist places in the State will get more prominence. The government is planning to develop a Buddhist circuit by including Buddhist centers across the State.’’
