The Tourism Department of Telangana is now promoting Deccan Park as a heritage tourist spot to encourage the national and international visitors. Telangana, a newly formed state bifurcated from Andhra Pradesh has many tourism destinations.
Deccan Park is a most favoured destination among the locals. Now, the Government of Telangana wants to promote Deccan Park, as a major tourism spot in Hyderabad.
The Government of Telangana recently renovated Deccan Park, where the Seven Tombs is located. The State Government of Telangana is included in the itinerary of all tourists visiting Hyderabad. He wished that Hyderabad, a medieval city of Nizam Nawabs will be on the list of UNESCO Heritage site.
The Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya also supported the suggestion and said that the Central Government needs to take some necessary initiatives to make Hyderabad, as the most important tourism destination in the world.
Deccan Park is under the eco-tourism and the historical preservation project done by the Government of Telangana, with a total extent of land about 31 acres.The park was developed from the year 2002 to 2006. It had recreational facilities like Musical Fountain, Swimming Pool, Chowki Dinner Shed, Conference Hall, Boating Pond, Kiddy Pool, Lazy Pool, Toy Train, View point open area, Stage event and Canteen Building However, the Deccan Park has some legal problems, due to the cases in High Court of Telangana, which was cleared in 2011.
The management of Deccan Park is under the two trustees. The Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) and Aga Khan Foundation of India (AKFI) has entered into MOU on January 9, 2013 for preserving and developing Qutb Shahi Tombs as heritage structures of South Indian Sultanate and also taking up of conservation of the tombs, renovating the stone sculptures, landscape and urban environmental rehabilitation. The Quli Qutub Shahi Tombs complex and Deccan Park undergo a strong renovation.
The Tourism Department of Telangana also undertook some measures to promote the state as the tourism centre and is ready to compete with the two neighbouring states Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.
