One of the residents, Krystal Taylor said that it all started Thursday afternoon and was in its full force at around 11 p.m.
She said, “Being in our house, all we could hear were these loud smacks all around our home from (this) tennis-ball size hail being thrown at our house from above. It was loud crashing all around the house. Lightning, thunder and hail can be a scary mix.”
Once the locals realised that they were out of danger, they went out to lessen whatever mayhem the storm had caused.
Taylor said,”Our neighbors shoveled and worked together to get the hail out of the streets so people in the neighborhood could drive safely. Despite the storm, it was heartwarming to have nearly the entire neighborhood working together. Without question people were opening their garages and bringing shovels out to help.”
Hail downpours are common in this area. As per a May report from the National Insurance Crime Bureau that assembled claims from 2013 to 2015, Colorado comes at number 2 in a list of states where people claimed hail loss insurance.
The CNN Weather unit reported that the province got 30 reports of Hail on Thursday only, with the size of the hailstones being more than 2 inches in diameter. According to the National Weather Service, the weather is getting better in the region and there are only some chances of thunderstorms over the weekend.
