Initially the checkpoint of STF, SOG and CRPF in Khannabal was attacked at 8:15 pm by the terrorist and then they ran towards Batingu. The victims who succumbed to bullet injuries were from Valsad, Dhrampur, Pardi and Vandsa. The bus was then attacked killing six of them, later the terrorist escaped running towards the Arwani Area and opened fire on the camp of G/90 battalion after leaving the spot.
Inspector general of CRPF visited the spot and Army Chief General Bipin Rawat is in Srinagar. He will take a first hand security assessment in view of the recent Amarnath Yatra attack. Inspector general of CRPF is also present there.
The mortal remains of two pilgrims was flown to Surat to Dahanu via helicopter the arrangement for which had been made by the Maharashtra government. The government of Maharashtra is in close contact with the Centre and the Jammu and Kashmir authorities regarding the condition of the wounded. Some of the victims hailing from Maharashtra are being treated in the Jammu and Kashmir hospital.
Asaduddin Owaisi, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief mentioned that he this is the second time such incident had happened when the BJP is in power, he wanted answers from the government and regretted the loss of the pilgrims.
Protests were held by locals in Ahmedabad. Security agencies have revealed that Abu Ismail, Pakistani national considered to be the successor to Lashkare-Taiba and one of the most dreaded terrorist, has planned and executed the attack on Amarnath Yatris.
Abu Ismail is a Pakistani national and dubbed to be the successor to Lashkar’s chief in Kashmir-Abu Dujana the dreaded terrorist and one of the most wanted man in Kashmir.
Ismail was supported by the locals in the attack. A senior police official said that Ismail had been identified along with two other men accompanying him during the attack. The terrorist will soon be put behind the bars.
