The visitor number might get impacted due to the attacks in Catalonia. However the industry experts suggest that European countries which experienced jihadist violence went through a brief effect whatsoever.
The tourism professionals pointed out that cancellation, early departures, and bit drop in reservation for three to six months impacted a European city of a terror attack. However, the effect is dispelling rapidly.
“The duration of the effect is shortening as attacks become commonplace” said Jean-Pierre Mas, head of Entreprises du Voyage, an association of French travel agencies.
Nonetheless, the impact can be larger “if there are repeated attacks in the same place,” he added.
Didier Arino, head of Protourisme consultancy based in Paris, have the same opinion.
A city facing repeated attacks can end up “appearing dangerous”, to the world, he said.
Paris shared the same story, hit by a number of attacks in 2015, counting the November 13 attacks on several places in and around the capital city, including the shootings at the Bataclan concert venue.
As a result, in the final quarter of the year, the economic output of the country dropped by 0.1 percentages respectively.
