1. Operating Results for October 2013
THAI’s Board of Directors acknowledged the Company’s operating performance for October 2013 compared to the same month in 2012. Available Seat-Kilometer (ASK) increased 10.2 percent with the delivery of new aircraft and route adjustments based on passenger demand. THAI Smile has launched its new destination to Chongqing and Changsha, the People’s Republic of China in October. Revenue Passenger-Kilometer (RPK) increased 7.2 percent, resulting in an average Cabin Factor of 71.6 percent, which is lower than the same month last year at an average of 73.5 percent. However, the number of passengers in October 2013 increased from 1.71million to 1.77 million or 3.5 percent compared to the same month last year.
As a result of the world economic slowdown and fierce competition, the Company’s Cargo and Commercial Mail operations reported a lower Revenue Freight Ton-Kilometer (RFTK) by 0.9 percent while Available Dead Load Ton-Kilometers (ADTK) increased 5.8 percent compared to the same month last year due to delivery of new aircraft. As a result the combined Freight Load Factor for belly and freighter averaged 53.2 percent which was lower than the 56.6 percent achieved last year.
2. Assistance to Victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines
THAI’s Board of Directors approved for the Company to provide assistance to victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines for the transport of goods and food products of approximately 4,000-6,000 kilograms per day. The Company will also sponsor travel for Thai government staff and other organizations such as physicians and nurses from Thailand. Assistance will also be provided to the Association of Filipinos in Thailand, where food products are being collected and will be sent to assist typhoon victims.
