In last year alone, Thailand has registered 1.19 million tourists from India, mostly from southern parts of the country. Soraya Homchuen, director of the tourism authority of Thailand said, “Since there is a history of having cultural and traditional connections between the two countries, they are keen on utilizing the ever increasing patronage from the country, particularly from Tamil Nadu.”
Homchuen added, “Thai AirAsia has decided to launch a new service between these two countries. Bangkok and other Thai cities have proven (to be) popular destinations for Indians, with their ability to respond to wide variety styles from marvellous shopping and night-time entertainment to hospitality and wellness retreat.”
