The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has come up with a strategic marketing scheme to lure in Japanese business event travellers at the ‘Thailand CONNECT: Japan Business Events Road Show 2017’ that was conducted recently in Tokyo.
The President of TCEB, Nopparat Maythaveekulchai said that the road show in Japan this year highlights the partnership between Japan and Thailand with an aim to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the diplomatic relations of the two countries. He added that the partnership of Thailand with the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) industry of Japan has enabled the latter to make considerable progress.
Throughout the year, the marketing activities of TCEB in Japan would be carried out under Thailand CONNECT that is the brand new campaign of Thailand.
The CONNECT Industry strategy has been adopting the Thai government’s economic model with a view to identify the emerging markets in five key future industries including Creative & Culture, Health & Medical, Digital Technology & Telecommunication, Logistic & Automotive, Food & Agriculture.
In the last 10 years, Thailand had welcomed 8.5 million international business travellers that was able to generate 782,594 million baht in tourism revenue for the nation. Out of them, about 4.9% were from Japan and had raised about 34,8788 million baht in revenue.
The MICE travellers from Japan have been ranking in the Top Ten of the international MICE market of Thailand and also in the Top Five of the Asia Market.
TCEB estimates that this year, the corporate travellers from Japan would growth at a rate of 5%, according to Maythaveekulchai.
