ThailandThailand is expecting a continuous growth in the third quarter of this year with an expected 5 percent jump in international arrivals going up to 8.7 million tourists.

This South East Asian country is also expecting a 10 percent increase in tourism revenue, which is expected to reach THB460 billion (USD13.87 billion).

Mr. Yuthasak Supasom, the Governor, Tourism Authority of Thailand, explained that the expected surge is based on favourable factors such as increased demand from short-haul markets during school holidays, the recovery of the Chinese market and the continued development of long-haul markets including the US and Russia.

In the first half of 2017, Thailand welcomed 17.3 million tourists, generating THB876 billion (USD26.4 billion) for the Thai economy.
