Thailand sets 33 to 34 million tourists’ arrival in 2017

Krabi-ThailandThe Tourism department of Thailand cuts its tourist’s arrival target from the previous year and in 2017, Thailand expects 33 to 34 million visitors.



Earlier in 2016, the Thailand targeted the arrival of the tourist around 35 millions.




According to Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, Thailand has welcomed 27 million already this year so they think for the whole year and they should get 33 to 34 millions. She did not give a reason for the downward-revised forecast.



She also said that when Thailand welcomed around 32.6 million tourists, still it was the record. The tourism here was driven mostly by the Chinese tourists.




Thailand is heavily dependent on its tourism industry which accounts for around 12 percent of the economy.




Tourism Thailand has seen at least two rebellions and the political disturbance over the past decade and several natural disasters, including nationwide floods in 2011 which crippled the tourism industry, but those events have failed to dent travellers’ enthusiasm for the Southeast Asian country.
