The Costa del Sol, in Málaga province, is one of the prime locations for playing golf. Numerous enthusiasts are drawn by the excellent climate, in the months when the rest of Europe is facing its lowest temperatures, and a high level of rainfall.
In order to continue stressing the clear advantages of the destination for playing golf, Costa del Sol Tourism and Planning will improve the policy of specialised golf communication. The aim is to both disseminate and draw attention to this sector, which contributes so much to the Costa del Sol.
For Costa del Sol Tourism and Planning the objective of this initiative is the production and dissemination of news and features about playing golf on the Costa del Sol in the national and international media.
The aim is to promote a positive image of the destination that the media can carry to their audience, and position the Costa del Golf as the golfer’s choice, thus reinforcing the leadership exercised by Málaga province on an international level.
In the words of the president of Costa del Sol Tourism and Planning, Elías Bendodo, ‘this strategy is one of the fundamental cornerstones of the sector within the Costal Del Sol Tourism Action Plan for this year, and becomes a key tool for arousing interest and attracting potential clients.’ The activity will seek to strengthen the destination’s image in the main golf enthusiasts’ markets.
In order for the strength and vitality of the Costa del Golf to reach golfers and enthusiasts, the potential visitors, ‘the target audience for the information prepared by the office will be professionals in the sector such as tour operators, golf professionals, specialised media, golf course owners and the different Spanish Tourist Offices overseas’, detailed Bendodo.
The databases available to Costa del Sol Tourism relating to the golf sector will also serve as a communication channel for the office, as well as the tourism portal specialising in the sport. The weekly bulletins disseminated by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) amongst its members will be another useful channel, not forgetting the social network presence.
Furthermore, above and beyond information, Costa del Sol Tourism will also make advisory services, access to high resolution images, features, press packs and more available to the media.
Amongst the main target markets for this information are the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Scandinavia, Central Europe, Canada, the United States, Latin America and Asia, as well the national market itself, ‘places where there must always be a constant presence, reminding people of the magnificent climate and spectacular natural conditions offered by the Costa del Golf, with more than 70 golf courses to enjoy,’ concluded Elías Bendodo.
