The top 20 inbound visitor source markets of Dubai witnessed stable performance of H1 2017 in the first half of this year with a startling double digit increase. Surprisingly, India tops the chart as one of the key traffic generators for the first time ever outnumbering the 1 million mark in the first six months of 2017 with 1,051,000 Indians coming to Dubai between January and June. This figure is up by 21% in the same time last year.
Second and third positions were retained by Saudi Arabia and the UK as the next largest feeder markets in the world. Saudi Arabia competing with the former in order to get things even out in June in spite of undergoing financial crunches in 2017. Whereas, the UK showed consistent volumes supported by solid 4% annual growth.
The first six months of 2017 saw a record growth of 8.06 million international overnight tourists in Dubai, showing a tremendous 10.6% growth during the same time 2016. As per the statistics published by Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) confirm that the initial strength, and continued growth of the tourism sector of Emirates, with an impressive growth trajectory from the month of January this year, highlighted the increasing appeal of this desert city as a global tourism hotspot.
