There are four long beaches in Manaung Island. It is the second largest island in Myanmar, said a Pyithu Hluttaw MP U Tin Nu, also known as U Tin Nu Aung from Manaung Township.
Side by side, he brags about the 17 mile-long beach of the island.
To quote her, “Throughout the world, you can find the beauty of 17 mile-long beach only in Manaung Island.” She also added by saying that the beach should be developed as a major travel destination that will eventually hold up the financial development of the state and create more jobs for the residents.
Union Minister U Ohn Maung also explained that the National Tourism Development Central Committee headed by Vice President 2 has already informed ministries to assist in working for the development of the tourism of the island.
Runway expansion project and setting up of a GSM mobile communication are the probable projects in the pipeline. Two 2-megawatt solar power plants is in the process of getting constructed by the government so that the island can receive 24 hours electricity.
U Ohn Maung explained that the project would be in cooperation with the Manaung Public Company and FMI Company as well as the Ministry of Electricity.
