The support of Canadian Government in terms of cultural events helps to create significant economic and media development in the places where the events are hosted, providing an outstanding platform for all local artists and artisans.
At the inauguration of the 2017 Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival, Gatineau MP Steven MacKinnon, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, and the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, declared federal government funding for the 30th edition of this festive and amazing annual summer event, to be organized by the side of Ottawa River in La Baie Park. This event would start from August 31 to September 4, 2017.
In terms of non-repayable contribution, the Canada Economic Development has funded $90,000 under the Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP). This funding would eventually support Festival marketing taking place outside Quebec with an intention of promoting tourism outside the region and attracting huge number of visitors from Canada and other countries across the globe.
Besides, Canadian Heritage has granted approximately $88,000 in terms of 2017 Festival under the Building Communities via Arts and Heritage program. This amount will work as a platform to highlight Outaouais region artists. Side by side, it will also help many volunteers associated with the organization of the festival.
