The popular venue, which is one of the trio of Arabella courses near Palma, is replacing all of the existing grass with Celebration Bermudagrass to further improve the golf experience at Golf Son Muntaner for the long-term future of the club.
An ambitious development project of this scale requires a significant recovery period to ensure the course is in perfect condition and ready for golfers to enjoy. So that will see the club close its doors on May 9 for five months with the reopening scheduled for October.
The technologically-advanced type of grass is considered to be stronger and will create much-improved smoother fairways. It will also be more resistant to temperature peaks and is more environmentally friendly, as it consumes far less water to sustain its striking green colour.
The switch to Celebration Bermudagrass will also improve the maintenance of the course in the Majorcan climate and will ensure the course is in perfect condition throughout the year.
During the renovation project, Golf Son Muntaner members and golfers on Mallorca will still be able to enjoy the Arabella Golf experience at neighbouring courses Golf Son Vida and Golf Son Quint.
It’s not the only improvement taking place at Arabella Golf Mallorca either with the recent opening of the new clubhouse in Golf Son Vida.
It was a project that was sensitively-handled as Golf Son Vida is the oldest club on Mallorca and has a rich history dating back to its opening in 1964. But the development is a huge success and has helped modernise the facilities to further enhance the service and experience.
Golf Son Vida Restaurant also now boasts a wonderful terrace overlooking the 18th green to enjoy the views of golf and the delightful gastronomy on the menu.
