To achieve this easier and faster, the fair has changed both its time of the year and the location, where around 1500 Italian and foreign buyers are going to meet. The BIT will begin on April 2 and end on April 4, the same day as the opening of the Milan Furniture Fair and Design Week.
To quote Roberto Rettani, trade fair Fiera Milano president, “BIT is aiming to increase both Italy and Milan’s key role in the world of the tourism industry; it also aims to generate appeal and important socioeconomic results for everyone. For each euro of value produced by Fiera Milano, four euro are produced through local tourism. Right now, tourism is being positively ‘contaminated’ by art, culture, and food/wine. The ‘new’ BIT is an efficient response, in line with Fiera Milano’s mission: to enhance the value of ‘Made in Italy’, through a portfolio of our own excellent events.”
The exhibition area is planned into four sections—Leisure, Luxury, Sport and “MICE” (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions). Much attention will be provided to the growing market niches like LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trangender) tourism. There are also plans for other areas like food/wine tourism, wedding tourism, digital services tourism, travel & stay and Vanilla Tours.
