The national tourism campaign aims the lost generation

The national tourism campaignNext week, a national tourism campaign is about to launch an offer to motivate young people to vacation at home.

 
Figures point out the fact that tourists between 16 to 34-years of age have taken almost 1.4 million lesser vacations at home in 2016 in comparison to ten years back.

 
Initiated by VisitEngland, the £2.5 million ‘Join the World – Discover the UK’ the campaign will focus on this ‘lost generation’.

 
The campaign will utilize international social media influencers and travelers to display to their peers the ‘amazing moments and experiences that can only be had on a holiday at home in the UK’.

 
Besides, the campaign will be headed along with the partnership with Northern Ireland’s national tourism bodies, Scotland and Wales together with the regional and local tourism businesses and destination management organizations.

 
It is likely to create over one million extra overnight stays with an £80 million boost up to the economy.

 
VisitBritain/VisitEngland chief executive Sally Balcombe said: “We want young people to take a new look at the sheer diversity and quality of activities and experiences right here on our doorstep and inspire them to book a short-break, boosting seasonal tourism and spreading its economic benefits across the UK.”
