For 2018, over 180 tourism events have been planned for the new national tourism campaign known as Amazing Thailand Tourism Year 2018. It targets to generate 3 trillion baht in terms of revenue. Thanasak Patimaprakorn, the Deputy Prime Minister explained that the Tourism and Sports Ministry, the Tourism Authority of Thailand along with the tourism stakeholders have planned to host over 183 tourism events all over the country starting from this November till the end of September 2018. Majority of the events have been planned in order to endorse unique local activities. The events will be segmented under sixteen categories like sports, water tourism, weddings, gastronomy, medical and wellness, Asean connect, culture, green tourism, night tourism, entertainment, Mice, and community-based tourism (CBT).
Besides, a committee has also been created by the ministry particularly to authorize the new tourism campaign at the same time created a tourism calendar, placing it on the website. Yesterday, the National Committee for Tourism Policy explained that it will assist to improve the quality of local foods and take care of the hygiene at important tourist attractions in order to meet international standards.
Gen Thanasak explained that Thailand and Laos will partner on cross-border tourism and will create a new route that will connect Loei province with the Lan Xang region in Laos. Thus, the two nations will help fortify CBT, which is turning into popular hotspots among international tourists. A CBT business matching event will take place this year in London at the World Travel Mart on Nov 6-8.
