The White Rose Awards in Leeds, organized by tourism body Welcome to Yorkshire, saw South, East and West Yorkshire along with Hull shared the remaining appreciation.
Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, the UN World Heritage site, close to Ripon, landed the large attraction category. To quote Justin Scully, its general manager, “The National Trust has a fantastic team here at Fountains and it’s so rewarding to see everybody’s hard work recognised.”
Some of the other North Yorkshire and York winners were lke Camp Katur, in Bedale, which scooped best caravan and Holiday Park and Yorebridge House, in Leyburn, winning the top honors in the small hotel category.
Low Mill Guesthouse, in Bainbridge, won the title for the guest accommodation category. The Scampston Hall and Walled Garden, Malton, won best small attraction and restaurant of the year and was named as The Pheasant Hotel, Helmsley. Besides, Rudding Park, Harrogate, won the large hotel crown as well as the title of the tourism event to the Great Yorkshire Show, in Harrogate.
