The next six-month expo that all are waiting would be the BIE-sanctioned Expo 2020 Dubai. Point to be noted, the six-month expos are organized every five years, the latest which took place in Milan 2015.
Every expo appears exclusive in a manner that reveals the province and the times.
However, Dubai 2020 is expected to remain unique in an extraordinary manner because of its exceptional attendance rate. The organizers have predicted over 25 million attendances from opening day on October 20th, 2020 and closing day on 10 April 2021 respectively.
The most unique attribute of this expo is that 70% of the attendance is anticipated to come from outside the host country. The Dubai 2020 organizers are banking on this. In the entire history of world expos, if their prediction turn true, will comprise the largest proportion of international visitors to a world expo ever.
Let’s take a look at few important world’s fairs that this century witnessed – Hanover 2000 (Germany), Aichi 2005 (Japan), Shanghai 2010 and Milan 2015. In these three expos, their combined attendance was roughly 143 million. Even though all Expos are mainly targeted to attract as many international visitors as possible, the major part of the attendance remain local. For example, in Shanghai 2010, only 20% of visitation had come from overseas. Contrariwise, the organizers of Dubai 2020 hopes to attract 25M from abroad, a whopping 70%.
