The St. Regis Monarch Beach today embarks on the final phase of its $30 million full-scale renovation that will introduce guests to a reimagined culture steeped in the relaxed sun-splashed sophistication of Orange County.
The transformation, which will be complete by spring 2016, comes following a recent 400-room refresh and includes a redesigned lobby, five new dining concepts, an expanded pool area and new pool bar, renovated public spaces and an exclusive spa partnership with Miraval Group, a global leader of luxury resort, spa and well-being destinations. Expressions of the resort’s new personality – equal parts sophisticated, approachable and intimate – celebrate the destination of Dana Point and immerse guests in the laid-back luxury of beachfront living.
“We are excited to share our new comprehensive redesign with our guests that provides a fresh take on coastal living in California,” said Ian Pullan, General Manager of The St. Regis Monarch Beach. “As one of southern California’s iconic destinations, we hope our guests enjoy discovering our reimagined resort with our new relaxed indoor and outdoor spaces and guest experiences.”
Resort enhancements include:
A New Arrival Experience: Guests will be welcomed with an unobstructed ocean view as the focal point of the transformed Lobby. Beach house-inspired details create a residential feel from the moment of arrival, such as panoramic windows, over-sized seating, wide plank wood floors, and celestial blue and sea-glass green accents that speak to the coastal spirit of Dana Point.
Miraval: Renowned for its “Life in Balance” philosophy and innovative programs and activities, Miraval will provide guests with a new expansive spa experience inspired by the resort’s oceanfront location and rooted in practices that deliver a lifestyle of balance and wellness. The partnership with The St. Regis Monarch Beach marks Miraval’s first coastal and premiere sister location.
New Dining Concepts: While Michael Mina’s Stonehill Tavern will continue to be the signature fine dining restaurant at The St. Regis Monarch Beach, new dining options will include:
o AVEO Table + Bar: Formerly Motif, the re-envisioned restaurant will feature a new Mediterranean concept that will embrace the seasonal bounty of the Californian coastline in a redesigned setting that offers more expansive views of the ocean. The restaurant will take a “Farm-to-Bar” approach, showcasing local ingredients and resort-grown herbs and honey.
o 33 North: Designed to become the convivial living room for the local community, the new lobby and lounge area will be sectioned off into three distinct sections that cater to different social scenes: a bar, a living room salon and an ocean view outdoor patio − arguably the best perch in the house. Ocean-themed art, soft comfortable furniture and fireside niches will encourage intimate conversation under the stars. The outdoor patio
will feature live music Thursday through Saturday with fire pits warming social gatherings.
o Sombra: The new poolside Mexi-Cali cantina will serve authentic and approachable fresh Mexican cuisine, such as fish tacos, inventive healthy salads and citrus-y ceviche.
o Part & Parcel Market: Formerly Crust, the new marketplace will be perfect for guests on the go with its wide selection of gourmet coffee, delectable pastries, freshly-made juices, smoothies and savory snacks served in a casual atmosphere and convenient location. An Italian gelato bar will also be available, bringing a deliciously cool element to the vibrant space.
o Westwind Terrace: The revitalized Club 19 will offer a new Gastro Pub dining experience with an outdoor terrace warmed by a large fireplace and panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. Guests and locals will enjoy happy hours, tequila flights and the finest lineup of tap beer and ciders after a round of golf or after work as well as daily breakfast, lunch and an evening lounge menu.
Expansive Pool Area: The new outdoor oasis will provide more ways for couples and families to connect with an infinity-edge Ocean Pool that seamlessly spills into the stunning seascape, private cabanas with built-in music and stocked outdoor mini-bars, increased poolside chaise lounges and an outdoor fire pit surrounded by couches for guests to get together in the evenings. The new multi-level design features a second tier dedicated to sunning and lounging. Guests can order small bites and cocktails from Sombra poolside cantina via smartphones and tablets without ever having to leave their chaise lounges.
Dana Point Discoveries: A new collection of experiences designed to help guests explore Dana Point by land and by sea will include activities such as stand up paddleboard and surf lessons, trail hikes to Bluff Top for hilltop views and exclusive marine adventures through the Ocean Institute.
The resort will remain open during the renovation and will offer a special $195 room-rate and $495 suite-rate through its completion in spring 2016.
