The sultanate will be receiving a group of wedding planners and event organizers from India from the 30th of May to the 3rd of June. The wedding planners will meet with their counterparts in the Sultanate and suppliers in the wedding industry to establish cooperation’s and to promote the sultanate as a wedding and events destination.
The group will tour the different venues, including the different hotels and resorts like Alila Jabel Akhdar, Anantara in Al Jabel Al Akhdar, Millinium Resort, Al Nahda Resort, The Grand Hyatt Muscat, Bustan Palace, the Shangri-la Resort, The Indus restaurant and Oman Avenues Mall.
This excursion has been organized by Travel Point. The hotels and resorts will also support this visit through providing accommodation, meals and experiential visits to the locations. Oman Air has also supported the trip by giving the wedding planners business class airfare tickets.
This also comes at a time where the second largest cruise ship sets its anchors at the Sultan Qaboos Port. On the 28th of May, the MV Ovation of the Seas brought a multitude of international tourists to the Sultanate, strengthening the importance of the cruise ship tourism sector in the Sultanate.
The Sultanate is considered a unique destination to hold events and conferences, and the MICE sector has been very successful in attracting conferences through the Oman Convention Bureau such as the Tourism Business Development conference for the DANATA group of companies, which was held from the 22nd to the 23rd of May at the Hormuz Grand Hotel. The conference hosted 130 tourism sales and promotions specialists from across the world that represent different companies under the DANATA name.
Khalid Al Zadjali, Oman Convention Bureau’s Manager, presented the Sultanate’s vision in the promotion of exhibitions and conferences to the Middle East markets.
The delegates from the DANATA group of companies were taken to visit the different attractions of the city, while some were taken to experience the golf courses in Muscat. Khalid Al Zadjali stated that: “This exhibition is a great start for the Oma Convention Bureau to attract this kind of tourism to the Sultanate. We aim to bring more events like this in order to establish the Sultanate as the premier destination in the MICE sector”.
Asma Salim Al Hajri, Deputy Director General of Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Tourism, stated that: “We are actively working to promote the Sultanate as a unique destination for all meetings and exhibitions, and we aim to host global events in the future”.
