In comparison to the same time last year, Abu Dhabi recorded a massive 30 percent growth in terms of hotel visitor arrival in June 2017. This expansion enhanced by special Eid Al Fitr, witnessed many first-class hotels booked completely.
Over 2.25 million guests to its 165 hotels were greeted in the first six months of this year. This was an increase of 7 percent in comparison to the first half of 2016.
To quote Saif Saeed Ghobash, director-general of Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), “We are on track to achieve our forecast guest arrivals growth for the year, and we are well placed to maximise these opportunities as we head into the second half of 2017. Eid Al Fitr has been a springboard for these figures as Abu Dhabi welcomed record-breaking numbers of visitors, with many of our leading hotels achieving near full occupancy with tourists from across the world choosing Abu Dhabi as the place to spend their holiday.”
In the month of June 2017, each of TCA Abu Dhabi’s six tier one market showed a striking performance. Visitors from Saudi Arabia got doubled this year. The rush from Chinese market continues as the largest international source markets accounting a 78.5 percent increase every month. On the other hand, we find year-to-date (YTD) visitor rising up to 55 percent to 185,000 respectively.
The second and third spots were occupied by India and the United Kingdom with YTD increase of 8 percent and 2 percent whatsoever. On the other hand, the United States witnessed double-digit growth for the month, thrusting YTD growth to five percent.
