As confirmed by Thomas Cook, the well-known British travel group that Egypt is slowly becoming a sought-after holiday spot. Continuous unrest in North American countries pressed vacationers on selecting similar sun spots like Egypt.
Thomas Cook said that equally strong demands for destinations like Greece. However, last year’s deadly bombings made Turkey quite a weak spot in terms of tourism.
The company announced flat revenues and losses in the first quarter or three months till the end of December. To quote the company, ‘’ Continued reductions in bookings to Turkey have been more than offset by strong demand for Greece.
We have also grown bookings significantly to a number of smaller European destinations including Cyprus, Bulgaria, Croatia and Portugal, and we have seen a strengthening of demand for Egypt and Morocco.’’
Last year, Thomas Cook with few other UK travel group cancelled flights to Sharm-el-Sheikh, famous Egyptian Resort. This happened just after Russian airplane crashed near Red sea holiday destination killing more than 224 passengers. In the mean time, UK Foreign Office meanwhile is sticking to its advice, ‘’ against all but essential travel by air to or from Sharm el Sheikh”.
