Thomas CookThomas Cook said that Egypt and Turkey are slowly recovering their travel sectors with promising summer bookings numbers, in spite of economic and security tensions in the current times.

Chief Executive Operator Peter Fankhauser expressed that the desire of customers to travel and explore overseas this summer is on the high after a tough year last year and a slow start this year. Now, more and more customers are going back to Egypt and Turkey once again.

Over the past few years, tourists have been keeping away from Egypt and Turkey for various political issues and security tensions. According to Reuters, Thomas Cook organized many trips to Spain and Portugal. Egypt’s tourism sector has undergone a major change in the past few years, especially after the 25 January 2011 rebellion.

Nevertheless, circumstances got worse when a Russian plane crashed in Egypt’s peninsula of Sinai in the month of October 2015. After that incident, Russia had suspended its direct flights to Egypt leading to more lack of tourists in Egypt.
