A Thomson plane that was travelling from Newcastle to Cyprus was forced to make an emergency landing after one of its pilots fell very ill. He had to be ‘laid on the plane floor near the toilets’ as per the reports.
The flight had to be diverted to Sofia in Bulgaria just 16 minutes after the emergency was announced.
One of the passengers said that the pilot was brought out of the cockpit and lay on the floor close to the toilets. The source told a media agency that the plane from Newcastle to Larnaca was diverted to Sofia Bulgaria airport soon after its pilot fell ill. Later the pilot was laid on the floor inside the cockpit and pulled out thereafter. He was then laid near the toilets.
A spokesperson for Thomson mentioned in a statement that the airlines has confirmed the news.
Then he added that the emergency landing had been requested at Sofia near Bulgaria since it was the closest airport and the pilot was ushered to a nearby hospital to be assessed.
The spokesman said that the airline extends its gratitude to their passengers for their patience and they had been working to get them safely to their holiday as swiftly as possible.
