Thousands of passengers were evacuated from Victoria Station this morning following a casualty on the track with tube services suspended between Brixton and Warren Street.
A person fell on the track at Victoria Station which created chaos at the station. Fire engines and cop vehicles arrived at the spot soon after the incident occurred.
The underground commuters got stuck in tunnels while the casualty was given medical assistance. Victoria Station was fully opened later but there were severe delays to all destinations.
A London Ambulance Service officer had said that he was called at 7.06 am to report a person injured at Victoria Underground Station. He said that an incident response officer, an ambulance crew and a hazardous response area team was also dispatched. The crew treated a woman at the scene with an ankle injury and took her to hospital.
Earlier in June also, the station was evacuated over faulty fire alert. Passengers had a tough time to get to work as the Victoria Line, the Circle Line and the District Line did not stop at the station after the incident. The incident took place around 7 am.
At least three fire engines were engaged in the Victoria underground station evacuation.
Authorities concerned were criticized for not quickly warning commuters off using the station. Passengers had to take alternatives routes via bus outside the station.
The Victoria Station happens to be one of the busiest London stations.
