The National Institute of seismology, volcanology, meteorology and hydrology (Insivumeh) informed that the Colossus, located at 50 kilometers to the southwest of this capital, recorded incandescent pulses 150 meters above the crater, weak and moderate avalanches.
Further, in its most recent bulletin the scientific source reported that Pacaya volcano recorded a weak white fumarole about 2,700 meters above sea level, drifting 500 meters. Notably, Pacaya volcano is situated closer to the capital.
Located in the southwestern Department of Quetzaltenango, the Santiaguito volcano shows activity with white smoke 2,800 meters above the sea level.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has been asked to take the necessary precautions for air navigation in areas close to these mountains with eruption activity. Furthermore, inhabitants residing in areas close to the three volcanoes have been advised to pay close attention to the authorities reports informed by the media.
