On Monday a Kabul hotel providing shelter to foreign contractors was attacked by the Taliban that led to the death of three Taliban fighters seven hours after the attacks started, according to the police.
Abdul Rahman Rahimi, police chief, Kabul, said that three people were wounded and one policeman died in the operation against the Taliban. He also added that none of the guests in the hotel have been hurt as a consequence of the attack.
The terror attack started immediately after a large truck bomb hit the hotel based at Northgate, and this hotel sheltered foreigners. The hotel was just near Kabul’s air-base in Bagram.
Gunfire followed the intense bombing that clattered windows as far as seven kilometers. This Kabul hotel attack comes just a few days following the most fatal attack in the Afghan capital.
The Northgate hotel is heavily guarded with sniffer dogs, watchtowers and blast walls, yet it became victim to the latest Taliban attack. This goes on to prove the security circumstances in Afghanistan that is steadily worsening.
An Afghan security source told the media that the Northgate hotel was struck by a truck that was loaded with explosives.
The Taliban admitted that the truck bombed assisted their fighters to enter the hotel, armed with rocket-propelled grenades. They have said that over 100 Americans have died and 100 Americans have been injured as a result of this powerful attack.
However, the Taliban always exaggerate the toll from their attacks.
The roads leading to the hotel were all cordoned off by the Afghan commandos. Also, special forces have been stationed at the site of the attack.
