Tambo in the small outback Queensland took to a unique form of publicity. Very recently the place found a rapid decrease in toilet paper rolls from its washrooms. When they realised their toilet papers were being pinched they decided to use this public amenity to their advantage.
They began to hand out cutomized toilet papers to travellers this tourist season. Featuring the map of Tambo along with a poem on the few ‘loos’ in the region, the Tambo Tourism and Business Association is quite sure that the idea will be quite a hit among tourists.
The board representatives say that they love tourists and this is gift will please them. They feel that this is a little cooperative marketing campaign that will help promote Tambo. The aim was for each of the 12 participating businesses to hand out one roll per day.
Tourists seem to be extremely pleased and are looking for another roll when offered the first. This needs to be curbed, so the authorities will not be knocking people back for more.
The board has purchased enough for the tourist season and the result of this novel marketing strategy will help the board to determine if they should follow this for the next year or adopt some new plans to promote the destination.
Tourists have made positive responses and think that is and unique joke. Tourists have no plans to use it and will take it back with them as a souvenir which will help in expanding the marketing by bringing people more to Tambo. Tourists are also asked to complete a shot survey in exchange of the toilet paper role which would help the Tambo Tourism and Business Association know a little more about who are the people visiting their town. Tambo to outback Queensland is emerging is a great tourism destination during winter months.
