Amway China and their leading destinations are scheduled to be in Toronto for their Leadership Summit in the year 2020.
Tourism Toronto has been actively developing this bid in the last five years thanks to strong support from the Government of Ontario and also the Government of Canada.
This announcement was made a short while after the Amway leadership team had met the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Beijing.
Johanne Bélanger who is the President and CEO of Tourism Toronto mentioned that Toronto was competing with some of the greatest destinations in the world for the Amway China bid and they were thrilled to have been selected.
He then went on to assert that the tourism industry of Toronto is currently progressing to a great extent particularly from overseas markets like China and this has been benefitting this city to a large extent as well as the province and all of the businesses in the visitor economy.
Over 321,000 Chinese tourists are expected to arrive in Toronto in 2017 marking a 77% rise over a five-year span.
In 2017 Chinese tourists are forecast to spend about $306 million and this is actually the very first time that the total spending has topped $300 million and this is actually the highest total from an overseas market.
Michael Chan, the Minister of International trade feels that the government’s business mission to China focuses on bringing their people and businesses closer together with an aim to support long-term economic growth and investment opportunities.
He also thinks that conducting international conferences like Amway’s 25th Anniversary Seminar in Toronto actually proves their ability to create important trade and business partnerships while also demonstrating their province as a prime destination to reside, work and also invest.
Angela Keung, Vice President of Sales, Amway Greater China Region mentioned that the year 2020 would be marking the 25th Anniversary Year for Amway China and they are glad to celebrate this milestone in Toronto.
