International visitors visiting Kashmir are still required to go through rigorous registration form filling process with 20 questions and above at the Srinagar Airport. On the other hand, state tourism department is keeping no stones unturned to attract overseas visitors worldwide. The tour operators have complained that the form is pretty tedious and taxing. Tour operators have vehemently protested that authorities will either change this system or make the entire procedure simpler. Especially for the visitors who have already undergone immigration, this particular process is creating a major discomfort among many.
To quote the tour operators, ‘’ the registration should be how it is in Ladakh and other states in India where the registration of foreigners is not done on the airport by once the tourist enters the city.’’ To quote Farooq Kuthoo, General Secretary, Travel Agents Association of Kashmir, ‘’ There are already travel advisories from various countries in place. If we handle the tourists properly and provide them a warm welcome, we will be able to send across a positive message. This procedure of form filling need to be do away with.’’
The tour operator also said, ‘’ this form should be made simple for tourists as they have already done the India immigration which is being processed through E-Visa from issuing office Delhi. India immigration has all information about the tourist and with one click you get to know all particulars about a person.’’
