Tourism Deals between Egypt and Turkey Would Remain Integral Despite Political Tensions

Egyptian Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou, said on the sidelines of an economic conference in Cairo on Monday, “Political issues will not impact [Egypt’s] economic relations with Turkey, Flights between Istanbul and the Egyptian cities of Alexandria and Hurghada remain operational.”

 

Zaazou stressed that a number of tourism mutual deals signed recently between Egypt and Turkey would remain integral in spite of ongoing political tensions between Cairo and Ankara.

 

While plans are underway to launch flights linking Istanbul to the Upper Egyptian cities of Luxor and Aswan. Egypt-Turkey relations have been tense since the July 3 ouster of elected president Mohamed Morsi by Egypt’s military establishment – a move Ankara has described as “military coup.”
