Arunachal Tourism Assistant Director, Bengia Manna Sonam received the Balipara Foundation Award, an award for proletariat, in Guwahati.
Ambassador Chandrasekhar Dasgupta got the award in the presence of over 400 people worldwide.
The award is given to the locals who have worked for the protection of biodiversity through their culture.
This was the 7th year of Eastern Himalayan Naturenomics Forum.
The Forum is connected with organizations all over the country and world to help the biodiversity and natives of the Northeast India, North Bengal, Eastern Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh.
The main aim of the forum is to appreciate and consider the potential ways to develop a system for improve natural capital and sustainable liquidation processes in building up universal basic assets among vulnerable forest-fringe communities.
Sagar Mehta received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Balipara Foundation presented the award. Mehta received this award for his contributions towards organic agroforestry and healthy water practices to regenerate water bodies.
Mahan Borah, the founder of Annapurna Seed Library and indigenous seed saver of Northeast India, received the ‘Food for the Future Award’ in the 7th Balipara Foundation Social Recognition Award 2019 ceremony.
