Organized by MTDC, the much anticipated International Ellora-Ajanta festival was held at the Ellora Caves on October 14. The three-day festival was inaugurated by Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis who said that the state government has decided on a tourism directorate in Aurangabad to make it a city of heritage and monuments, since it has the capacity to attract large numbers of tourists.
The Maharashtra Unlimited Magazine’s ‘Marathwada’ edition was also launched during this festival. The start of the festival had inaugural concert by Parwati Dutta offering dance to the sublime sculptures, divine legends and magnificent architecture of Ellora.
The last two days of the festival had eminent film and music personalities and was held at Soneri Mahal, a 17th century Haveli, on the premises of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University. The Ajanta-Ellora Caves are among the biggest tourism attractions of the state and their appeal is high both among Indians and foreigners.
The connection of this place with historical Silk Route and other Buddhist circuits of the world including Japan and China are noteworthy. The scope of tourism in Aurangabad is immense; hence, the tourism directorate here will definitely boost tourism in the state.
Aurangabad is a major tourism hub with good network services to important attractions around it. The Marathwada edition of the Maharashtra Unlimited Magazine will be circulated in different countries to grab attention of foreign visitors. This edition will feature important destinations in the region with special significance on the Marathwada culture and life. This festival is one of the biggest cultural event in the Marathwada region in Maharashtra.
