Tourism in France recovers in 2016

Tourism in FranceThe tourism industry of France made a recover in 2016, after two tough years marked by terror attacks. The number of overnight stays rose 3.9% in the last three months of 2016 compared to the same period in 2015, reaching 56.3 million.

This strong growth compensates for the loss of those two years as an effect of the attacks. Friday’s suspected terror attack on a group of soldiers on patrol outside the Louvre museum could jeopardize that recovery.

The incident outside the world’s busiest museum revived fears of violence in France which suffered a series of attacks that killed 238 people between January 2015 and July 2016.

Many towns and cities besides Paris are still recovering from the Islamic attacks across Paris in 2015.
