It is the CEO of the Tourism Board Sherin Naiken who took the decision following discussions with Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture. This end of year Marketing Meeting is the opportunity for the private sector to meet the public sector in what is seen as the working public / private sector partnership. It is this event annually that starts preparations for a successful marketing action plan for the following year.
The planned 15th December meeting will fall in the final campaign dates now announced as the Presidential elections that has been set for the 16, 17 and 18 December. The CEO of the Tourism Board has said that it is better to reschedule the meeting in early January.
Seychelles is currently recording an increase in the visitors’ arrivals of 18% over 2014 which is why the Tourism Board has said that it is the time to take a deep breath and analyse what efforts have been expended in order for Seychelles to move into 2016 running to continue to deliver for its tourism industry and to analyze what more needs to be done. This is the rational behind the annual marketing meeting that will be held by the Seychelles Tourism Board and its overseas offices and members of the private sector trade. “The aim of the meeting was to engage with enthusiasm the participation of all serious stakeholders to ensure Seychelles tourism continues to flourish. Every year we sit with our private sector partners to pan out the Seychelles Tourism Board’s marketing strategy. We remain committed with our spirit of consultation in what we have as public/private sector partnership” said Sherin Naiken, the CEO of the Tourism Board.
“The Ministry of Tourism and Culture and its Tourism Board has been in constant dialogue with the tourism local trade. The genuine tourism trade of the islands know that the tourism industry of Seychelles is working as never before. One needs to be blind not to see that. But knowing that we must continue to hear form out trade partners we have for the past couple of years been conducting door-to-door visits of tourism establishments and we continue with this exercise as this ensures we remain connected with our front line team. These visits also this gives us real feedback from the trade. This approach was essential for the Ministry and the Government because too often some people for personal reasons would try to paint the a gloomy picture when it was clear that the situation was indeed better that it had ever been. We have seen the Inter-Ministerial Meeting with the Tourism Trade that was chaired by the Vice President and this ensured open and frank dialogue. The coming January Marketing Meeting will be the continuation of this consultative process which is why we are encouraging the tourism trade to be present for the opening ceremony and be part of the industry dialogue process” said Minister St.Ange
Sherin Naiken, the CEO of the Tourism Board has said that she would be communicating the new dates for the January marketing meeting in the coming weeks.
