Leading Dutch tour operators, travel agents and travel writers make their way to this important travel expo each year, as well as many thousands of Dutch holidaymakers in search of ideas and suggestions for their next short break or holiday destination. In 2016, the-six day event attracted more than 120,000 visitors.
Karen van der Horst, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for the Netherlands, said: “Vakantiebeurs is our first major promotion of the year, providing an excellent opportunity to position Northern Ireland and the island of Ireland as a ‘must see’ destination in 2017. This year, Tourism Ireland will continue to promote the distinctiveness of a holiday in Northern Ireland, the good value available and the ease of access from the Netherlands.”
There’s a special focus on Northern Ireland at this year’s Vakantiebeurs – including a fun photo booth, where visitors to the Tourism Ireland stand can have their picture taken at various ‘virtual’ Game of Thrones locations in Northern Ireland.
Promoting Belfast and the Causeway Coastal Route will continue to be a major focus of Tourism Ireland’s activity in the Netherlands, and elsewhere around the world, in 2017. The organisation will also continue to highlight ease of access from the Netherlands to Northern Ireland.
