Tourism Ireland has plans to attract more visitors to Ireland over the next three years. The body is looking to bring up to 9 million people to Ireland by 2016.Ireland is hoping to attract more than 12.6 billion euro into the Irish economy through increased activity in the sector.
Niall Gibbons is CEO of Tourism Ireland says the US market is looking promising for 2014.The Ireland brand in America’s very strong; and is still regarded as a dream destination. The airlines have invested and are maintaining five new routes that come into Ireland. The United Airlines have announced an additional 90 flights to come into Shannon from Chicago he added. There is additional air access coming in from Toronto with Aer Lingus and Bruges – they’re new routes he said.
Golf is a major focus for Tourism Ireland in the US and the organisation has a busy programme of promotions under way in key American cities and gateway areas, to grow the number of golf tourists for Ireland in 2013 and beyond. Tourism Ireland is working hard to drive home the message that a golfing holiday here is about much more than a round of 18 holes – the combination of Ireland’s world-class golf and our unique brand of hospitality plays a key role in attracting golfers to come here
