On this Tuesday, Manohar ‘Babu’ Azgaonkar is an Indian politician and member of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party along with being Tourism minister said that electronic dance music or EDM, sunburn or supersonic and such events actually assists to increase the footfalls of visitors in Goa and promote the union territory on international stage.
To quote Azgaonkar as replied to the question posed by Opposition leader Chandrakant Kavlekar, “Such festivals are one of the factors for witnessing increase in the tourists’ arrival. The EDM festivals of high magnitude like that of Supersonic and Sunburn are widely publicized around the globe and telecast live in various parts of the World. These publicities aid the state of Goa to attract new and quality tourists.” The Tourism minister further added by saying that in the last five years State made approximately Rs 20.47 crore revenue through EDMs. The events like EDMs, tourism minister explained welcome in more tourists particularly music lovers during festival period.
“EDMs generates revenue to the exchequer as well as to the hoteliers, taxi/tour operators and locals etcetera at large, engaged in rendering various tourism related services,” said Azgaonkar.
