TTF or the annual Thailand Tourism brought more than 500 international hotel professionals to discuss the ups and downs of the Thailand tourism sector at the InterContinental Hotel Bangkok. Annual tourist arrival of more than 30 million made Thailand’s tourism sector to grow despite few inherent challenges of this country. Expanded infrastructure in Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui and Chiang Mai, ability of the country to adapt to ever-evolving visitor needs and increased airlift allowed the tourism sector of Thailand to thrive.
Besides, the country has significant challenges and competition from different Southeast Asian countries. To quote Bill Barnett, managing director of C9 Hotelworks, ‘’ New faces from new places demand new business models that will breathe life into the Thailand tourism industry. The ‘Chinafication’ of Thai tourism means that Chinese visitors have become the oxygen for growth and with a rise in independent, wealthy travelers it’s time for the industry to look beyond the tour groups and refine its approach to all the key Asian source markets’’.
These market dynamics are evaluated and debated by the experts at the Thailand Tourism Forum 2017 in association with a networking event, supported by the InterContinental Hotel Bangkok.
