This year, the number of overseas and domestic visitors has kept on expanding in a powerful manner. Up till September, it has found that over 9.4 million international and 57.9 million domestic tourists with a total tourism revenue of VND376 trillion (US$16.5 billion), accounted a 26.5% annual rise.
As informed to the Daily last Friday, Nguyen Van Tuan, the head of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism or VNAT that the industry is anticipated to serve approximately 13 million to the overseas and 75 million to the domestic tourists, and be paid an enormous VND500 trillion (US$22 billion) in terms of revenue this year.
In 2016, there were approximately ten million overseas and 62 million local visitors, and the revenue in terms of tourism totaled VND400 trillion, VND62 trillion above the statistics of 2015 respectively.
Keeping in mind this positive growth, VNAT predicts that this year the industry has the opportunity to lure 11.5 million overseas visitors and around 66.7 million domestic tourists and produce a staggering total revenue of VND460 trillion.
Tuan of VNAT explained that the industry would launch new activities to endorse tourism, fortify the management of the destination and work together with airlines to provide attractive packages for the visitors. The Government should introduce more strategies favorable to the sector like adding more to the list of countries from where citizens can apply for e-visa, and spending greater amount on tourism promotions.
“We have proposed new policies to prop up the tourism sector. Among them are a plan for boosting visitor growth in the rest of the year through easy e-visa procedure and promotion. I think if the Government supports (the sector), its targets will be within reach.”
