Tibet has seen a rise in tourism revenue with an increase of 40 per cent. The country has declared an over $200 million USD earning during the first four months of 2015. Chinese tourists visited the country in large numbers. Altogether foreign visitation comprised of 17.3 percent to 23,421.
The first four months from January to April saw 1.01 million people from China and abroad visiting Tibet. An increase of 22 per cent has been recorded this year from the same period in the last year.
Tourism revenue rose 39.3% to 1.29 billion yuan (US $207.92 million) in the same period, including US $15.36 million from foreign visitors.
Infrastructural development in rail, road and improved air connectivity tourism is definitely moving ahead in Tibet. With special permission to visit the Himalayas Foreign tourists are happily discovering new trekking routes.
