Today, the St. Marys Rotary welcomed the Executive Director of the Greater Grand Lake Region Visitors Center to share thoughts about the massive growth in tourism in 2019. The campgrounds at the lake have experienced a rise of over 50 percent since 2015, in general, and it’s not a twist of fate that in 7 years, the toxin levels in the lake have been the lowest.
“At this point right now the water is low toxin or toxin-free,” said Donna Grube, executive director. “If that maintains, the new beach until summer, they’ll take the signs down and the new beach, which has all new sand and all kinds of amenities, and it will be open for swimming so we’re very very excited about that project.”
2020 could be the first time in 10 years that the lake will remain opened to the public.
