The tourism training program is in association with the Ministry of Tourism, Art and culture, Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA). Supported by United States Embassy in Ghana, tourism is fourth biggest financial contributor of this country. It has the possibility of overtaking cocoa, gold, oil and foreign remittances.
Creating better human resource for tourism business is one of the key requirements to develop this sector as per the National Tourism Development Plan (2013 – 2027). Tow specialist like Yuri Horowitz, a lecturer at Georgetown University and co-founder and partner at Navigo International and Andrew Dumaine from United States will be present as main speakers at the training session.
With over 19 years of experience in the travel and tourism industry, Yuri Horowitz has rich expertise across the entire value chain starting right from front-end hospitality to high-level tourism planning and policy. His specializing areas were emerging destinations, community engagement and sustainable tourism. He main focuses on executing programs with far-fetched social benefits and sharing vision among stakeholders. World Bank, Clinton Foundation, U.S. Peace Corps and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) are some of the organizations that he had worked with.
Andrew Dumaine is the president and founder of shrinkingfootprint, a company that focuses on transforming tourism into a potential instrument for community development.
