Tourism yields good result at Calhoun County

result at Calhoun CountyIn terms of regional tourism, the star rated places are increasing in number, size and brightness.


As pointed out by the Star’s most recent edition of Business Calhoun County, tourism in Calhoun County reached almost $80 million last year, as per the Alabama Tourism Department. From 2015 to 2016, this spending accounts for an increase of 11 percent. It would be shocking though if it didn’t rise again this year.


As a result of a youth baseball tournament at Oxford’s Choccolocco Park, hotels rooms were spill over with guests this week. As estimated, the Dixie Youth World Series will lure over 500 youngsters along with their parents and their coaches to our community. So by the end of the tournament, an additional 5,000 people will be in town.


The Woodstock 5K on Saturday is estimated attract approximately hundreds of runners and walkers to Anniston. This yearly run tournament attracts more than 1,200 participants.
