National Statistics Institute Insee revealed that France registered a 1.3 percent increase in tourist attendance in all type of accommodation combined in the third quarter of 2019 as compared to the same period last year.
In the second quarter the growth was slower when the attendance grew by 3.8 per cent.
Due to a 3 percent rise in attendance by domestic holidaymakers the trend stayed positive in Q3 and there was a 2.2 –percent drop in foreign visitors as per the Insee data.
Around 8 percent of the GDP is generated by tourism and two million jobs created directly or indirectly.
Two-thirds of the internal tourism consumption is by the French residents and non—residents represent one-third of spending.
Last year the company is known to welcome 90 million tourists, the government wishes to consolidate this leading position and bring the number of international tourists arrivals up by 2020 to 100.
