pattayaTourism and environment in the Pattaya Bay has been severely harmed by dumping of rubbish by irresponsible tourist-boat operators who dumped their rubbish into the sea.

Both the beach and sea had been washed up by large volume of garbage with plastic waste like empty bottles and discarded cutlery items.

Uthai Pengphan, Cozy Beach beach-bed hiring operator said that the garbage problem on the  stretch of sand was not new and rubbish washed up on the beach throughout the year.

But this time of year there is strong wind and more waste tends to find its way ashore. He further suspected that the garbage is from the tourist boats as the rubbish is tied up in big garbage bags.

It is seen when the rubbish bags float in the sea, the waves often break them open, causing smaller pieces of trash to float around Pattaya Bay.

The beach turns dirty and unpleasant and so they have to collect so that it doesn’t restrict tourists from visiting.

Thailand is reeling under the problem of garbage in the sea. Apart from harming tourism it is causing the death of many aquatic animals, such as turtles and whales – and resulting in other environmental problems.

As per Greenpeace, Thailand is ranked sixth on the list of countries that generate the largest amount of waste into the sea it leaks more than 1 million tonnes of waste into coastal waters in a year.
