By September end this year, tourist inflow in Trichy was two crore and the number is expected to surpass more than 2.20 crore by December end. Last year, a total of 1.96 crore tourists had visited Trichy and in 2017, the number was 1.93 crore.
There is a general perception that tourism potential in Trichy hasn’t been fully tapped yet, in spite of it being a much sought-after destination for both domestic and international tourists.
Five places – Teppakulam, Natharsha Pallivasal, Vekkaliamman Temple, Woraiyur, Samayapuram Temple and Vayalur Murugan Temple will be illuminated with LED lamps with the help of funds from Asian Development Bank (ADB). Also, five ASI monuments will soon have sign boards that will make it easy for tourists to know interesting facts about the monuments.
